NIOS Vocational Exam Fee Window Opens for October-November 2026
NIOS vocational-course learners who appeared in the April-May 2026 examination can now register for the October-November 2026 examination and pay the exam fee online. The regular window is open from 20 August to 3 September 2026. If you miss it, NIOS has provided a late-fee window from 4 to 8 September, followed by a final consolidated-late-fee window from 9 to 13 September 2026. This notice is for vocational learners, not students registering for the separate Secondary or Senior Secondary public examinations.
## Who needs to act now?
This update affects learners enrolled in an NIOS Vocational Education course who appeared in the April-May 2026 vocational examination and now want to:
- reappear in subjects or modules they did not clear; - improve marks; or - use another available chance in the October-November 2026 examination.
It does not automatically apply to every academic NIOS learner in Class 10 or Class 12. Academic-course learners should follow the separate examination-fee notice on the academic student portal. Vocational learners should use the vocational registration system and check that the selected course, subject or module, and learner details are correct before payment.
## What are the dates and late fees?
According to the schedule reported from NIOS Notification No. 40/2026, the fee timetable is:
| Payment period | What you pay | |---|---| | 20 August–3 September 2026 | Prescribed examination fee, without late fee | | 4–8 September 2026 | Prescribed fee plus Rs 50 late fee per subject/module | | 9–13 September 2026 | Prescribed fee plus consolidated late fee of Rs 1,600 per learner |
The examination fee is reported as Rs 400 per subject or module, including vocational practical and internal-assessment components wherever applicable. Check the amount shown in your own official payment screen before submitting the transaction, especially if your course has a different structure or module requirement.
The official NIOS vocational portal lists the notice as: “Exam fee payment schedule for the learners of Vocational courses who appeared in the April/May 2026 Vocational exams.” A NIOS regional-centre notice identifies it as Notification 40/2026 for the October-November 2026 vocational examination.

## What should you do today?
1. Open the official vocational portal through voc.nios.ac.in, not through an agent’s payment link. 2. Log in using your learner details. 3. Confirm that the course and subjects or modules shown are the ones you need for the October-November examination. 4. Pay before 3 September 2026 if you want to avoid a late fee. 5. Download or save the payment receipt and take a screenshot showing the transaction status.
If the portal shows an incorrect subject, missing module, or payment failure, do not repeatedly pay without checking whether the first transaction was successful. Keep the transaction number, date, amount, and screenshots. Use the official learner-support or regional-centre route if the payment is deducted but the form remains incomplete.
## How is this different from the earlier vocational update?
NIOS had already extended the last date for Block-I vocational admission earlier in August. That was an admission update for people joining a vocational programme. This new Notification 40/2026 is different: it concerns examination registration and fee payment for learners already connected with the April-May 2026 vocational examination and seeking the October-November attempt.
It is also separate from the academic NIOS exam-fee notices for Secondary and Senior Secondary courses. Parents and learners should not assume that an academic-course deadline applies to a vocational course, or that a vocational notice gives permission to register for Class 10 or Class 12 subjects.
## What happens if you miss 3 September?
You may still be able to register from 4 to 8 September 2026 by paying the additional late fee per subject or module. The final listed opportunity is 9 to 13 September 2026, when the consolidated late fee applies. After 13 September, do not assume that the portal will reopen or that an AVI, coaching centre, or private agent can submit the fee for you. NIOS has stated that the process is online, so a missed final window can mean waiting for a later examination opportunity.
