NIOS October 2026 practical exam datesheet released: check now

NIOS has released the practical examination notification and datesheet for Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) learners appearing in the October 2026 examination session. The notice was listed on the NIOS student-notification portal on 6 September 2026. If your October exam fee was accepted and you have a subject with a practical component, download the official datesheet now and check your subject code carefully. Do not rely only on messages from a study centre or WhatsApp group.

## Kaun students affected hain?

This update is for NIOS Secondary and Senior Secondary learners registered for the October 2026 public examination. It is relevant to students taking practical subjects such as Science, Home Science, Painting, Computer Science, Data Entry Operations, Physical Education and Yoga, music, or selected vocational-related subjects listed in the official schedule.

It is not an admission notice, not a Stream 1 Block 2 notice, and not an On-Demand Examination notice. The practical datesheet applies to the October-session public examination. Learners who are appearing only through ODE should not assume that this notification changes their ODE booking or examination schedule.

Parents helping a student should first check the learner’s enrolment or exam-fee status on the official portal. Then compare the datesheet with the subject codes printed in the learner’s records. Subject names can look similar, and a wrong code can lead to a missed practical.

## Practical date kaise check karein?

1. Open the NIOS official notifications page. 2. Select the notice dated 06-09-2026, titled “Notification regarding Practical Exams of Secondary and Senior Secondary courses for Oct 2026 session.” 3. Download the PDF and find your class level and subject code. 4. Write down the date, reporting time, examination centre and any instructions in the notice. 5. Contact your allotted NIOS study centre or examination centre to confirm the local reporting arrangement.

The official PDF is the document to follow. A centre may send a reminder later, but a reminder message cannot replace the official subject-wise schedule.

## Kya practical file ya documents le jana hoga?

Read the instructions in the official PDF and follow any centre-specific direction. Keep your hall ticket or other examination record available, along with the practical file, project work, identity document and required stationery if the centre asks for them. Do not wait until the morning of the examination to discover that your centre has given a different reporting time.

If your hall ticket is not available, your name is missing, or the subject printed in your record does not match the datesheet, take screenshots of the problem and contact NIOS through the official grievance or learner-support channel. Also inform the allotted centre in writing. Keep the complaint number, email and screenshots safely.

## Last cycle se kya badla?

The previous public-examination cycle used a March-April 2026 practical timetable. That timetable is not valid for the October 2026 session. NIOS has now published a separate practical notice for the October session, so learners must not reuse an old date, old centre message or a timetable saved from the April examination.

The official NIOS notification page currently places this practical notice above older updates, including the earlier March 2026 practical notification. This is why students should check the date on the PDF before preparing their travel plans.

## Agar practical miss ho gaya toh?

Do not assume that a missed practical will automatically be rescheduled. If an unavoidable problem occurs, contact the examination centre and NIOS immediately and keep proof of the reason. A student who simply stays absent may face a missing or incomplete practical component, which can affect the final result for that subject. The exact remedy, if any, depends on NIOS instructions and the learner’s case; no private agent can guarantee a re-test or marks correction.

Also remember that the practical datesheet is only one part of the examination process. Check the theory datesheet and later hall-ticket notice separately. A practical examination date does not confirm the date of the theory paper.
