NIOS Oct-Nov 2026 Exam Fee Reopening Ended on August 10

NIOS briefly reopened the examination-fee portal for eligible Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) learners who want to appear in the October-November 2026 public examinations. The special payment window ran from 4 August to 10 August 2026, with a consolidated late fee of ₹1,600 per learner. That window has now closed. This was an exam-fee reopening, not a fresh admission window, and it did not automatically include every NIOS learner.

## Kaun affected tha?

The reopening was for learners already eligible for the October-November 2026 public examination in the academic courses—mainly learners whose admission and subjects were already available for that exam session. It covered both Secondary and Senior Secondary courses. Learners from Stream 1, and eligible candidates appearing through other applicable academic streams, had to check their own student dashboard rather than assume that admission alone was enough.

This is important for students who say, “Mera NIOS admission ho gaya, exam fee alag se bharni hoti hai kya?” The answer is yes. NIOS admission and public-examination fee are separate steps. Paying admission fees does not by itself register a learner for a particular examination session.

The original October-November 2026 fee schedule had already allowed payment without late fee from 21 May to 20 June 2026, followed by a late-fee period from 21 June to 30 June 2026, according to education-sector reporting based on the NIOS schedule. The August notice therefore gave missed learners one more short opportunity, but at the consolidated late-fee stage rather than reopening the normal-fee period.

## What did students have to do?

During the 4–10 August window, eligible learners had to:

1. Log in through the official NIOS learner portal at `sdmis.nios.ac.in`. 2. Open the examination-fee payment option for the October-November 2026 public examination. 3. Confirm the subjects shown on the portal before paying. 4. Complete the online payment, including the applicable ₹1,600 consolidated late fee. 5. Download and save the payment receipt or transaction details.

Students should not have paid an agent merely because the portal showed a deadline. NIOS directs learners to use its official online system. If money was debited but the receipt was not generated, the learner should preserve the bank or UPI transaction reference and contact the official NIOS support channel instead of making a second payment immediately.

## Is the fee window still open now?

No. As verified on 3 September 2026, the special reopening ended on 10 August 2026. The official NIOS notifications page lists the 3 August 2026 notice about reopening examination-fee payment with the ₹1,600 late fee. An official NIOS regional-centre notice also identifies the reopening as Notification 50/2026 and gives the 4–10 August dates.

There is no basis in the sources checked for claiming that another academic exam-fee reopening is currently available. A learner who did not pay by 10 August should continue checking the official NIOS notifications page and the student dashboard, but should not treat an agent’s promise of “late entry” as confirmation.

## What happens if you did nothing?

If you missed the fee deadline, your admission may remain valid, but you should not assume that you are registered for the October-November 2026 public examination. In practical terms, you may not receive an examination hall ticket or be allowed to sit for the subjects for which the fee was not successfully paid. The next available examination opportunity will depend on your eligibility, admission validity, subject rules and the next official NIOS fee schedule.

If you paid successfully, keep the receipt until the result and certificate process is complete. Later, check the portal for the hall ticket and verify your name, enrolment number, course, subjects and examination centre. If a paid subject is missing, raise the issue through official NIOS support with the receipt attached.

> Official rule: Examination-fee payment is separate from admission, and the August 2026 reopening for eligible October-November 2026 academic-exam learners ran from 4 August to 10 August with a consolidated late fee of ₹1,600 per learner.
