NIOS Practical Exams: Subjects, Dates & Marks

Several NIOS subjects (especially science and some vocational subjects) have a practical component in addition to the theory exam. You generally need to clear both parts to pass the subject.

How NIOS practicals work

  1. Check if your subject has a practical — Science and several vocational subjects carry practicals; languages and most humanities subjects usually do not.
  2. Attend at your study centre (AI) — Practical exams are conducted at your Accredited Institution, usually around the theory exam window.
  3. Clear both components — Practical and theory marks both count toward your subject result; you must pass the practical part separately.

Always confirm on the official portal: Practical schedules, syllabi and pass requirements vary by subject and cycle. Confirm the current details on the official portal and with your study centre.
