NIOS On-Demand Exam (ODE): How It Works

The On-Demand Examination (ODE) lets eligible NIOS students take their exam when they feel ready, instead of waiting for the twice-yearly public exams. It is one of the biggest advantages of open schooling.

How to use ODE

1. Check eligibility — ODE is available for many Secondary and Senior Secondary subjects. Confirm your subject is included for the current window.
2. Apply and pay the fee — Apply through the official portal during the open window and pay the per-subject fee.
3. Take the exam — Appear at your study centre on the scheduled ODE date.
4. Get your result — ODE results are typically declared within a few weeks.

ODE pauses during public exams: ODE windows are usually paused while the twice-yearly public exams run. Plan around the April–May and October–November exam months.
