The four NIOS streams

How to take NIOS admission
- Choose your level — Secondary (Class 10) or Senior Secondary (Class 12).
- Check eligibility and documents — Keep your ID proof, address proof, photo, and any previous marksheet (for Transfer of Credit) ready.
- Pick your subjects — Choose a valid subject combination for your level. See the subject-combination guidance before finalising.
- Register on the student portal — Complete the admission form on the official sdmis portal and pay the fee within the block window.
Watch the block windows: Admission opens in two blocks each year. Late admission carries extra fees in slabs. Always check the current dates on the official portal before applying.

Can I transfer subjects I already passed in CBSE or a state board?
Yes, through Transfer of Credit (TOC). You may carry forward up to two subjects you have already passed, and appear only for the remaining subjects. Keep your previous marksheet ready and confirm the current TOC rules on the official portal.
