# Editorial Policy

NIOS Help Center exists to give NIOS learners accurate, dated, sourced information for free. This page explains how we do that, so you can judge a page before you act on it.

1. Sourcing: official portals are the only authority

For anything that costs a student money, time or a seat — dates, fees, eligibility, penalties, procedure — the only authoritative sources we accept are NIOS's own:

— nios.ac.in — the official NIOS website

— sdmis.nios.ac.in — the admission and student portal, the official notification feed, and NIOS's published fake-website list

— results.nios.ac.in — results and RW letters

— exams.nios.ac.in — exam services, including internal-assessment status

— grs.nios.ac.in — the official grievance system

— dled.nios.ac.in — D.El.Ed. services

— cdn.nios.ac.in — official notice and datesheet PDFs

— NIOS Regional Centre websites, including their published official FAQ pages

Court judgments, regulator positions and government notifications are used where they are the primary source.

We do not treat admission agents, coaching centres or "solved assignment" sellers as sources of fact, however highly they rank. We do not copy from other education websites.

2. Verification, and what we do when sources disagree

Every fee, date, deadline, eligibility rule and penalty on this site is published with its source linked and the date we last checked it against that source.

Official NIOS notices are PDFs and their addresses change, so we archive the notice we relied on. A dead citation is worse than no citation.

Sources genuinely do disagree, including official pages that have not been updated. When they do, we show both positions, name both sources, mark ours as unverified, and tell you to confirm with NIOS or your Regional Centre before acting. We do not pick one quietly to make a page look tidy.

Where we cannot verify a number against an official source, we do not publish the number. We say what is uncertain and where to check. On a site whose whole purpose is accuracy, a confident wrong fee is self-defeating.

3. Dating and review cadence

— Every page shows a last reviewed date.

— Deadline and fee pages carry a separate "verified on" stamp naming the source checked. That is different from the last-edited date, and it is the more useful of the two.

— Deadline and fee pages are re-checked monthly, and whenever NIOS publishes a relevant notice. Rule and process pages are reviewed at least every six months. Subject pages are reviewed when the syllabus changes.

— We never refresh a date to make a page look new. If nothing substantive changed, the date does not move.

4. Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know.

— Email hello@nioshelpcenter.com with the page address and what is wrong. An official source, if you have one, helps us act faster.

— We aim to reply within 3 working days.

— Clear factual errors are fixed, or the page is taken down. We do not defend an error because a page is performing well.

— Substantive corrections are logged on the page that changed, with the date and what changed, so the page's history is visible.

5. Use of AI

Some of our drafts are AI-assisted. We say so plainly, because you deserve to know how a page was made.

We do it because NIOS publishes notices as PDFs at short notice, and a student who learns about a deadline a week late has lost a session. AI helps us turn a notice into a readable page the same week.

The rules we hold ourselves to:

— A human editor checks every published page against the primary source before it goes live.

— AI is never the final authority on a fact. If a model and the official notice disagree, the notice wins and the claim is rewritten or removed.

— AI-assisted news posts carry a visible line stating that they were AI-assisted, naming the human editor who reviewed them and the date, and linking the original notice.

— We do not publish AI-drafted material nobody has checked, and we do not publish to keep a schedule. A week with nothing to report means no post.

6. Independence and advertising

This site is free to read and carries advertising.

— Ads are labelled as advertising and kept visually separate from editorial content. Advertisers have no say in what we publish, no advance sight of it, and no influence over how a page is written.

— Advertising revenue never decides which topics we cover or what a factual page says.

— Gyaniversity Publications, which operates this site, also publishes paid NIOS study guides and an AI tutor. Where we recommend one, we disclose on that page that we publish it. We show a guide only where one actually exists for that subject.

— By policy, some pages carry no commercial recommendation at all: anything about admission agents, fake websites, grievances, study-centre misconduct, or assignments. The value of those pages is that they are not selling you anything.

7. What we will never publish

— Leaked question papers, or any claim to know what will be asked.

— Guaranteed-result, guaranteed-pass or guaranteed-admission claims.

— Paid agent services, admission brokering, or any offer to intervene in a student's NIOS record.

— Solved assignments, scraped answer dumps, or copied study material.

— Named accusations against an individual study centre or member of staff. We publish the official reporting process instead.

— A claim that any website or app is fake unless NIOS itself has published it as such.

8. Who we are not

NIOS Help Center is an independent, privately operated guide, operated by Gyaniversity Publications. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by, or connected to NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), the Ministry of Education, or any Government of India body. We are not an admission centre, a study centre or an Accredited Institution. We cannot process admissions, change your record or influence your result. The official NIOS website is nios.ac.in.
